HE ne'er sleeps

When tragedy, heartache, and sorrow abound, when evil appears to have conquered the right, we center our heart on our Father's great love, for He will bring hope in the darkest of night.

Not knowing what to expect next makes this journey memorable. One of the many exciting aspects of walking with Him is that we don't know what to happen next. At times we may be uncomfortable with the twists and turns but He reserves the right to lead us wherever He wants.

News Flash: Japan's Life Expectancy at 80++

" Japanese girls born last year can expect to live to an average age of 85.8 years, making them the longest-lived in the world, according to figures released by the government on Thursday. Their male compatriots fare less well, with a life expectancy of 79 years, second to Icelandic men at 79.4 years, the Health Ministry said.Japan's women have topped the world's longevity ranks for 22 years, something researchers have attributed to their healthy diet and tight social ties, among other factors. Improved treatment of the ageing population's three biggest killers -- cancer, heart disease and stroke -- has helped push life expectancy to record highs, a ministry official said. After the Japanese, Taiwanese women are the world's second longest-lived at 84.6 years, then Spanish and Swiss women at 83.9 years, the report said. The Guinness Book of World Records lists Japan's 114-year-old Yone Minagawa and 111-year-old Tomoji Tanabe, as the world's oldest person and oldest man, respectively. But increasing life expectancy and a scarcity of babies in Japan have fuelled concern about how the world's oldest society will fund its pension requirements. "

  • In the Pinas, 67.61 years old lang ang LE (from 70.51 last year). Imagine Iran (at 69.12 LE) and Iraq (at 68.04) are very close to our figures. Nampitso e puro barilan dun ah... Though according to recent surveys, one of the reasons is that Pinoys are the most stressed in Asia, most probably because of work and family issues. I find it weird that Singapore (LE at 79.21) and some other developed Asian countries they said, are more relaxed than us. Probably from my analyses, they can afford to support their families despite challenges at work thus stress at homes are far smaller and manageable than in our country.
Para sakin, if you eat the right kind of food and your lifestyle isn't as bad as the fast-food eating Americans, plus your family supports you in whatever way they can, everything else would be better.

hear ye hear ye...

Today I am officially announcing my disease. It's called chronic glomerulonephritis. I had this since birth. But the sting just manifested just after the holidays in 2006. I had to go to the doctor every month (just like today) to check on what will the verdict be on October. What's the fuzz on October? I had to be transplanted with another kidney to continuously filter my urine. Well, I still have to be operated. My 24 hour protein resulted to 2,100 ++ mg/mol as against 225 ++ regulated. I had a side disease called proteinuria - an offshoot of the former thats actually an excessive release of protein from the urine. If you're "wiwi" is kinda foamy or too foamy, probably you need to check on with your doctor. The 2,100 ++ is a great improvement than before. The initial reading back in May was a whopping 7,400 ++ mg/mol. Then it came down to 4T then the last one was today at 2T. Doc says if it stays low at 500 to a thousand mg/mol, we would have to cancel the date of operation and just continue with my 8 tablets per day meds (60 mg prednisone cortisteroids, 300 mg approvel, 40mg lipitor). But this doesn't indicate that I'll be out of this illness. I could die today, tomorrow, in twenty years. No one knows. It's a pity it will develop still to End Stage Renal Disease. That would be the time that my kidneys wouldnt function anymore as I would like them to be. Only a MIRACLE can literally extend my life for some more years....and hopefully one can happen to me. Yet if I die now, I would still be thankful for the 28 great years HE has lent of me.

Yung with ukelele accompaniments....kaya patok sakin tong si Jack Johnson.

LIVE EARTH...How to Live on Earth...

This should not be a plead for people rather it is a global responsibility that needs respect to our world. Nasa Pinas ka man o sa ibang bansa, magpakatao tayong lahat for the next generation...

Live Earth is a 24-hour, 7-continent concert series which took place on 7/7/07 that brought together more than 100 music artists and 2 billion people to trigger a global movement to solve the climate crisis.

Live Earth has reached this worldwide audience through an unprecedented global media architecture covering all media platforms - TV, radio, Internet and wireless channels.

Live Earth marked the beginning of a multi-year campaign led by the Alliance for Climate Protection, The Climate Group and other international organizations to drive individuals, corporations and governments to take action to solve global warming. Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore is the Chair of the Alliance and Partner of Live Earth.

Live Earth was founded by Kevin Wall, the Worldwide Executive Producer of Live 8, an event that brought together one of the largest audiences in history to combat poverty. Wall formed a partnership with Al Gore and the Alliance for Climate Protection to ensure that Live Earth inspires behavioral changes long after 7/7/07.

Live Earth will stage official concerts at Giants Stadium in New York; Wembley Stadium in London; Aussie Stadium in Sydney; Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro; the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg; Makuhari Messe in Tokyo; the Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai; and HSH Nordbank Arena in Hamburg.

Live Earth concerts were broadcasted to a live worldwide audience by MSN at http://www.liveearth.msn.com/. With support from the U.S. Green Building Council, creators of the LEED Green Building Rating System, Live Earth will implement new Green Event Guidelines. All Live Earth venues were also designed and constructed by a team of sustainability engineers who addressed the environmental and energy management challenges of each concert site, as well as the operations of sponsors, partners and other Live Earth affiliates. Each venue are designed to maintain a minimum environmental impact, but showcased the latest state-of-the-art energy efficiency, on-site power generation, and sustainable facilities management practices.

Live Earth is a project of the SOS campaign , which is using a powerful multimedia platform - films, television, radio, Internet, books, wireless and others - to move people to combat the climate crisis.

Sports Feats!

I am a SPORTS AFICIONADO that's why when I am hearing good news about people and places which I was related to or somewhat had a following of, I do become a child again celebrating and treating myself for a good meal or a great cup of coffee...kahit bawal...hehe... Well, these are the weeklong news that I have read (and watched) which I was happy about.

1. Nanalo USTE sa Shakey's V League after a year of rest.

2 . Host ang USTe sa UAAP. Panalo La Salle sa opening (after a year of rest din este suspension pala) against UP (82 - 61) sa opening game.

E tong si Duncil, at the eleventh hour nag-back-out sa line up...rumor has it that he passed 2 birth certificates...tsk tsk tsk..so bago mag-suffer ang team, he went away to try out for SEABA....

3. Ferrari won the the British Grand Prix courtesy of Kimi Raikonnen (sponsor kame neto hehehe)....E si Pareng Felipe Massa fourth laang...Pero si Louis Hamilton pa din ang nasa leader board who joined Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso as the only drivers with nine straight podium finishes. Schumacher had 19 for Ferrari in 2001-02, and Alonso had 15 for Renault in 2005-06. Hamilton now has 70 points, Alsonso 58 and Raikkonen 52.

4. Roger Federer (AGAIN!!!????) won the Wimbledon. He is tied for third on the career list with Borg and Rod Laver at 11 major titles, trailing Pete Sampras' 14 and Roy Emerson's 12. Kawawang Nadal di man lang manalo sa grass....Puro clay nalang ang hilig kasing magpadulas sa clay kaya ayan dun laang nananalo....Federer beat Nadal for only the fifth time in 13 meetings. The Spaniard has defeated Federer in the past two French Open finals to spoil his bid to complete a career Grand Slam.

5. And finally Tiger Woods is going home probably with zero trophy in his own hosted tournament - the AT & T Championships...bakit kailangang icelebrate...e nanganak ang model nyang esmi habang naglalaro siya..that's the reason we should celebrate. Though this is his worst tournament, probably he's more than happy inside.

The Little Rock Nine

This is my 80th post and I wanted it to be somewhat special. I thought I could get away with anything else to write here but there's this tinge of being too attached to what is happening around my so-called open book life. My family knows that we are currently struggling but we do not want to pity ourselves. I am too determined to still go on and fight with whatever strength I have for me to have alonger life to live (that is literally guys). With enough courage mixed with the odds of having most of the time, zero ATM balance , sige pa din, I know that HE is with us and that HIS power will persevere.

Now let's go to the video which I posted here. This happened when the Civil Rights Movement was very much apparent in the States. It's a story of the Little Rock Nine - one of the most inspiring events that really helped me a lot in times when I feel that no one else is with us or that everything around me is just waiting to burst and crumble.

The LITTLE ROCK NINE are actually black students who entered to an all white high school in the 50s. They were discriminated, bantered, hated. But they managed to persevere and finished their education.

The LITTLE ROCK NINE are: Ernest Green Elizabeth Eckford Jefferson Thomas Terrence Roberts Carlotta Walls Lanier Minnijean Brown-Trickey Gloria Ray Karlmark Thelma Mothershed-Wair Melba Pattillo Beals

6 women, 3 men. All braved their way to the all-white high school. I wanted to see them personally, to salute the pletora of courage, strength & determination that they have peacefully portrayed for the world to see.

Inspite of all the difficulties they faced day in and day out as they pass the fences of the school, with people shouting at them with malicious and belittling words, they stood tall - wanting to redeem what was worth of them. They carry with them the often misunderstood power which very few has really meant to have. Others perceived it as the spark of an era where individualism spoke dignity and the dignified whispered silence.

This year, the nine will be in the same high school to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this major historical event in the history of apartheid, desegregation and human rights victory in the United States.

Hopefully, this will prove that the same determination, courage and strength will be used by many to bring their lives together, despite of the difficulties we are all facing. The Little Rock Nine is a solid proof that no single person or a single fence can ruin one's life. It is all in the matter of remaining to believe and to trust these unspoiled virtues within ourselves.
